This version should (hopefully) fix the trouble that people were having with vertical tabs and the input line being positioned wrong. The log viewer is also significantly more responsive this version and now sorts logs by date properly, regardless of language.

Changes from Chax 1.4.9:

  • (Bug) Increased responsiveness of the log viewer
  • (Bug) Log viewer now sorts logs by creation date
  • (Bug) Fixed an issue where the Chax preferences could become hidden
  • (Bug) Fixed missing strings in the Italian localization

I have noticed that the menu based options dont change the ichat window if it is on another monitor. I have to move the contact list to the monitor with the menu to get the change to take.

For log viewer improvements. Sorting by screen name should be an option. There are some users in my logs that actually have up to 5 entries because i've gotten to know them more, and gotten last names, middle names, etc...So example I'll have a person who's screen name is userbob12. I'll have some chats under "bob" and some under "bob smith" and some under "bob joe smith" and then they got married so i even got some under "bob joe johnson"...So for one user, i got several entries even though it's same screen name for all of them

Hello! I just recently got done chatting w/ a friend of mine, and closed the chat window, only do discover that I needed some of the info within the chat. I remembered that Chax has a built-in log viewer, but I cannot find it.. how do I access the viewer?

anyway of making growl notifications occur on messages that are not currently open on a tabbed window? when i have one tab open, i can see other ppl are sending me messages, but i don't see them via growl unless the window is not selected.

@Robert Garvin The log viewer is inside the "Window" menu, named "Log viewer", I think (I have the italian version at the moment).

The contact page is off, so i would like to report a bug that I have found. If I do not have a current active chat window(or maybe even if i do) and I get 2 new chats from friends, I can accept 1 conversation and it goes into the main chat window, but I can not click accept on the 2nd conversation. no matter what it will not accept the click.

Tried to disable Bonjour in prefs under acct tab; however when I bring up ichat from another application i get a message "Bonjour is disabled" " Would you like to login to this service?" This comes up each time i switch apps and back to ichat. Obviously i don't want to use bonjour because i turned it off in prefs. Checked ichat without chax and it doesn't have same problem. Whaddya think?

on the laptops, i have tried it on a macbook and macbook pro, the apple button and arrow does not seem to change the tab that I am viewing... it only works with the apple shift arrow combo, is there a way to fix this ? thank you! other than that this is the best :)

Please add this feature: Only auto accept video chat specific people from buddy list. That would be freaking great.

i have yet one more potentially useful request. I love the reconnect after being disconnected option, but I've noticed when my internet goes out and doesn't come back on, ichat just keeps trying to reconnect over and over. could that be altered to quit trying after 3 tries or so?

Stefan at 2007-08-28 07:44:51 -0400

it would be very nice if you include the feature displaying the last messages sent and recieved when closing a message window and re opening it again.

The message input problem I was having with 1.4.9 appears to be fixed in 1.5—thank you!

I'm using tabs and I've noticed that the message windows always grow in size every time I open a new one. For instance, I'll be talking for a while, close the message window, and then when I open a new one to talk to someone later, the window is bigger (vertically). This doesn't happen when I'm not using tabs, so I imagine it has something to do with the tab bar. This happened with the last version, too.

2 things to suggest. 1, disable iChat from using the real name listed in the address book if you have the AIM inside the contact information. 2, have an option to auto accept IMs but not chats as well. Count me in a donation of $50 if you can get this working! Shoot me an e-mail direct if you want.

I have a suggestion for the unread message notifications in the dock icon. As you probably know, if the person's name is long, or has letters such as lower-case "p", "g" etc. in it, then it is often cut off at those parts. Therefore, I suggest giving the user the option to change the font size and/or bubble size in the dock to suit his/her needs. Excuse me for my ignorance if this has been discussed before, but it's a personal problem I've been having. I wish you luck, and I hope you look into this. Happy programming!

Hey, i have an idea for a future version of chax. Instead of having solid color background for the number of messages. How about an image ?
