Chax 2.2.1
A couple of minor bugs have been fixed since the last beta. I’ve also finally added the ability to rearrange groups in the unified contact list, like you can do in the individual contact lists.
Changes from Chax 2.2:
- (New) Added the ability to manage groups and contacts to the unified contact list.
- (New) Added an option to flip images when taking a camera snapshot (Buddies -> Send Camera Snapshot…)
- (New) Can now add and remove contacts from the unified contact list
- (New) Can now rearrange groups in the unified contact list
- (Bug) Fixed issues with the unified contact list updating when moving contacts from one group to another.
- (Bug) Dates in the activity log respect locale setting.
- Updated German localization (thanks to Christoph Schmitz)

Hi Kent,
Great to see you still working on Chax.
I’m still seeing a bug that was in the last beta i think where the unified contact list would come up white/blank. Is there anything you want me to do to help work out the bug?
Cheers
Ben

Regarding Snow Leopard, do you have any plan to get Chax to work on it ? It seems that Input Managers are gone now …

I’m having an issue where the unified contact list isn’t opening at all when iChat is opened. I have to manually select it from the menu. Otherwise it works okay. Thoughts?

Hello,
I have a problem with Chax. It keeps crashing after few minutes of running on my Mac (10.5.7).
I have a version 2.2.1. I read somewhere, that it could problem of Safari 4.
If you would, I could send you a log.
Thank you very much for your answer.

PS. I really appreciate your help and your application.

Looks like they did away with input managers in 10.6 (Snow Leopard). That’s too bad. I’ll really miss the features that Chax provided.
Thanks for the program while it lasted. If you figure out a way to make it work in 10.6, please let us know

Hello,
I would love to see ICQ contact authorization support in Chax / iChat. Adium is able to do this; if an ICQ user wants to add you to his/her contact list, Adium displays an authorization request. Also, you can’t add ICQ users directly from within iChat, it lacks the authorization support.
Chax should have this feature, too!

Hi there,
I just installed Chax and so far I like it. However, there’s one thing which should work according to the release notes, but unfortunately does not: In Chax 2.2 Beta 1, the SaveWindowFrames feature should take care of remembering your contacts’ window positions. Right now, I’m running Chax 2.2.1 and enabled this feature using the following command
defaults write com.ksuther.chax SaveWindowFrames -bool YES
I already restarted iChat to make sure the changes are applied, but to no avail.
Any help will be appreciated.
Other than that: Nice extension!

Hi Kent,
While Chax is awesome and must have for iChat users, I am getting a problem with it. I’m unable to transfer files between iChat users. Both the parties have Chax 2.2.1.
When I send a file, it says “Waiting for X to accept…” and when X accepts it, on their screen it reads “Calculating…”, and no file transfer takes place.
Regarding Snow Leopard, if Input Managers are gone, what else would be the best bet? I’m sure Apple doesn’t want to let down the plugin developers!
Thanks a lot!
Best wishes!

iChax is such a great product! I installed it a couple of weeks ago (when I was looking for a pluggin that would allow me to have a unified contact list).. I loved it from minute one!
But it stopped working
Why? For the love of my life that I can’t figure this one out. I’n uninstalled it a couple of times and reinstalled it. It just simply would give me a unified list even when the box in the preferences in selected.
I’m so sad! It was awesome while it lasted!
Anyone else with this problem??

“it wouldn’t give me a unified list” (is what I meant).

Please add support to Snow Leopard.

Is there any time plan when the development for snow leopard will be started ?

I’m also interested in Snow Leopard support. You should have any problems with finding beta testers, consider me as a volunteer. All in all, Snow Leopard will be released soon and Chax support for SL should be already there.

I also am interested in SL support as I came across this tool. I’d be happy to be a tester as well.

when you try to install Chax under SnowLeopard, no error message will appear.
BUT, you can login to your ICQ account via iChat but the person which you want to write something see´s just HTML-codes.
Chax doesn´t appear in the iChat settings
