Chax 1.4.4 Beta 2
This beta is mostly about minor bug fixes to the log viewer that were causing some people trouble, especially when launching iChat. I’ve also added in a feature that will correct the file creation dates on logs that have lost their proper creation date. Incorrect file creation dates causes the Chax log viewer to display the wrong date for a past conversation with an incorrect creation date. Luckily each saved transcript file also contains the date the conversation occured, so file creation dates can be corrected. Most people shouldn’t ever have to deal with this problem, but a solution is now available for the few people run into it.
Changes from Chax 1.4.4 beta 1:
- (New) Added log date correction for users who have had the creation dates of their log files reset
- (Bugfix) Fixed a crash when customizing the log viewer toolbar
- (Bugfix) Selecting view logs on a user with an accent in their name will now work properly
- Fixed reversed option for disabling overflow menu
- Can now specify to disable alert sounds when available, away or idle
- Fixed problem with the tab bar not resizing properly
- Fixed a problem where iChat would display an error when launching because of oddly named log files
- Dragging URLs onto tabs will now automatically bring the tab to the front

Occationally still have problems with image drag and drop for im images. Will get an alert saying it cannot be done, even when an IM image is already established, Will effect a particular tab but not all tabs. When I close all tabs and start fresh again the problem goes away…Drag and drop needs a little more looking into with tabs.

Whohoo! Thanks to Chax I’ am falling in love with iChat again;)
Would be great to be aible to display the most recent log directly from Chat Window! Sorting the logs correctly would also be nice (german language version).
Thanks for yor work.

Growl Alerts are using addressbook nicknames even though the “use addressbook nicknames” is disabled. Buddylist still shows full name but the alerts are showing the nickname..

Nice work!
Any ability to unify protocol buddy lists, so AIM, Jabber, Bonjour are all in one list?

Great piece of software! I really love it.
Although, this beta version eats 100% CPU for a few seconds every few minutes on my G4 1.5GHz Powerbook… i noticed that during audiochat because the sound became choppy. Removing Chax solved the problem instantly.
Pleeeaaase fix that, i’m feel naked without Chax!
Thanx in advance,
Arthur

Hi, having problems video chatting using my 15″ MBP and 15″ Pbook w/ isight. Video is fine but audio is one way (pbook to mbp) only. Doing a Video preview, no audio is recognized. I was using 1.4.5 and downgraded to 1.4.4 and still am having the problem.
Now, I have it uninstalled.
Hope that it gets fixed soon. Thanks.

Hi, really great work. Is there any possibility to integrate a otr encryption optional, so privacy communication with adium users for example is possible?

The contact page was down, so I’ll leave the suggestion here.
I IM and voice/video chat with people around the world. A programmable time zone function (maybe automatically assigned to the first address listed in the user’s address card, or as an instructive tag in the comments field of the buddy) would be a very helpful feature. A small mouse-over note in the Buddy List or even somewhere in the corner of a chat window would be awesome. Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Max

I’d like to report a bug which was there already in Chax 1.4.3.
Selecting a line of text with command and shift keys pressed no longers works when I have installed Chax. I can navigate to the end or beginning of the line by holding command key while pressing the arrow keys but if I hold both command and shift keys (to select the text), nothing happens when I click the arrows.
As soon as I uninstall Chax, things start to work again.

Ok.. Now I get it. Even though I didn’t have the tab support enabled, the keyboard shortcut for changing tabs was active. I changed the shortcut keys and now everything works again.

There is a small typo in the German loc of the “Close Window?” alert of Chax 1.4.5:
The “Nicht Schließen” button should be “Nicht schließen” (lower case “s”) as the other one next to it.
Wanted to mail it, but as the contact page referred here, I just leave it as a comment
